Ranch For Sale in Rancho Merlita

The Ranch House
The Ranch House

• 4,450 sq. ft., 6 bath, 5 bdrm ranch - MLS® $2,500,000

 -  The Ranch House, built in the 1950's, is a classic ranch-style home. It incorporates a deep shaded porch and spacious breezeway under the low pitched tile roof. Large picture windows look upon the expansive front yard and the Catalina Mountains to the north. Glass doors connect every room to the outdoor living areas, while there are few windows in east and west walls. The interior spaces are open and informal.

The pool was one of the first built in Tucson. It is so large it was loaned out to the community for swimming. An extensive porch, the length of the house, protects guests from the elements while providing an uninhibited view of the Catalina Mountains.

The east wall of the master suite is covered entirely in beautiful stone and incorporates a central fireplace. A 15'-long carved stone fireplace extends from floor to ceiling in the living room laid in an intricate pattern by local mason Julian Diaz. It is built of Rhyolite stone quarried from the Canfield Homestead in the Tucson Mountains. Notched ponderosa pine beams, arranged in a unique radial pattern that creates a striking effect combined with the stone fireplace, support the ceilings in most rooms.

The original kitchen has been extensively remodeled to blend with the original ranch house living room. The ceilings are now 10'9" with carved beams and hood trim to tie the kitchen to the rest of the house. A window became glass French doors with wrought iron screens to open into an existing breakfast patio. The kitchen incorporates the "ranch look" with rustic knotty alder cabinets and panels for the Subzero refrigerator and freezer, Wolf warming drawer, and Asko dishwasher. The floor is a warm, grey concrete with a decorative outline, tying into the adjacent living room flagstone grout. Smooth, soft brown concrete countertops, hand-made, leather-like tiles branded with part of the ranch logo pattern, cast-bronze hardware, and a custom iron chandelier complete this updated ranch house kitchen.
